HISTORIC ILLUMINATIONS

A city’s heritage begins with its buildings. Architecture helps tell the story of the past while providing visual enhancements to main streets and downtown districts. But at night, many buildings all but vanish into the shadows.

Keeping the power of architecture going at night is a major reason to adorn buildings with light. But that ought to mean more than simply bathing them in flood lighting.

Moreover, any lighting system for a heritage building must be respectful of the  building’s façade so as not to damage stonework, or distract from it with cables and lamps.

That is why ARTLUMIERE uses a new technology that can actually highlight specific details of a building, using permanent installations that are not attached to the façade itself.

Specially adapted outdoor projectors make this possible. They last indefinitely, with low maintenance costs. Sophisticated (and costly) electronic systems are not required.

Sound (and moving graphic displays) can be added on holidays, weekends, or for special occasions and celebrations.
